Examining the Implications of Conflicts and Crises on International Energy Security

Updated: Jun 13, 2023

The International Energy Scholars Workshop, organized by the US Chapter of the Association of International Energy Negotiators (AIEN) (sponsored and hosted by White & Case LLP in Miami, Florida) held on Friday, June 2, 2023. As part of the program, I presented a paper examining the role of institutions and contractual arrangements in mitigating the impact of conflicts and crises on energy security, especially regarding the security of supply in international oil and gas markets.

The working paper I presented at the workshop is based on my book chapter on ‘Security Implications of Conflicts, Crises, and Disasters in the International Energy Industry: Legal and Policy Considerations’ in Susan Breau & Katja Samuel (eds), Research Handbook on Disasters and International Law, (Edward Elgar, 2016) and the second edition of the book is forthcoming soon.
